System Sizing Guide

On-Grid vs Off-Grid vs Hybrid

On-grid (most common): Excess power exported to grid; net metering bills you for net consumption. Cheapest, no batteries needed.

Off-grid: Standalone with batteries. ₹50,000-1 lakh extra for batteries. Use only if grid is unreliable.

Hybrid: Both grid + battery backup. ₹30,000-60,000 extra. Best for Tier-2 cities with frequent power cuts.

ROI Calculation

3 kW system at ₹1.8 lakh after ₹78,000 subsidy = ₹1.02 lakh net cost. Saves ₹2,500-3,500/month electricity. Payback: 3-4 years. Lifetime savings: ₹6-8 lakh over 25 years.
