Every comparison on WIB is built on a few unchanging rules. This page documents exactly how rankings are made, what data is used, who reviews what, and where AI helps — so you can decide for yourself whether to trust what you read here.
What WIB does and does not accept
No paid placements
Brands cannot pay to appear, rank higher, or be removed. Ever.
No sponsored "reviews"
Every recommendation is editorial. No advertorials disguised as guides.
Affiliate links allowed
We may earn a commission on Amazon/Flipkart/Zomato links — at no cost to you. Disclosed on every page.
Open methodology
Every ranking criterion is documented. If you spot a flaw, write to us — we'll fix it publicly.
How rankings are made
Different categories use different signals because the right answer for "best biryani in Bangalore" is not the same kind of question as "best 50,000 INR laptop." Here is how each category works:
Electronics & appliances
- Specs verified against manufacturer pages (Samsung, Apple, Sony, etc.) and refreshed on launch + every 90 days.
- Real-world performance scores drawn from independent benchmark sources (GSMArena, Notebookcheck, RTINGS).
- Price snapshots sourced from Amazon and Flipkart at the time of the review; we mark these as time-stamped, not live.
- User-rating signals aggregated from Amazon and Flipkart with weighting for review count to prevent rating manipulation.
Hospitals, schools, colleges
- NABH / NABL accreditation for hospitals, NIRF rankings for colleges, board affiliation + recognition for schools — all verified from official lists.
- Specialty depth measured by department count, fellowship-trained doctors, and infrastructure.
- Patient/parent reviews aggregated from Google Maps, JustDial, and verified reviewer sites.
- YMYL caveat: we do not give medical advice. We compare facilities. Always consult a qualified doctor before making a healthcare decision.
Restaurants
- Verified manually for existence, location, and cuisine. Ratings imported from Zomato/Google with a minimum review-count threshold.
- "Top picks" reflect a blend of rating, consistency over time, and editorial judgement on category fit.
- Links route to Zomato/Swiggy/Maps for current menu & pricing — we do not duplicate that data here.
Travel destinations
- Best-time-to-visit data drawn from official tourism boards (Incredible India, state tourism departments) and weather services.
- Stay/transport prices are indicative ranges, refreshed quarterly. Always check live booking platforms before travel.
- Distance and route information cross-checked against Google Maps and IRCTC.
Finance & insurance (YMYL)
- Product comparisons reflect publicly disclosed terms from RBI / IRDAI / SEBI registered providers only.
- Not financial advice. We compare features, fees, and terms — never recommend specific products as right for your situation. Consult a SEBI-registered advisor for personal financial decisions.
How AI is used (and how it is not)
What AI helps with
Drafting, formatting, multilingual translation (Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Bengali), summarisation, and surface-level comparisons. Every AI-generated draft is reviewed by a human editor before publication.
What AI does not do
AI does not pick rankings. AI does not invent product specs or hospital accreditations. AI does not write health, financial, or legal advice. The AI assistant on the site (/compare/ai/) is grounded in WIB's own catalog data — it cites WIB sources and does not fabricate.
Updates & corrections
Pages carry a "Last reviewed" stamp. Major categories (electronics, hospitals, colleges) are reviewed quarterly. Travel and restaurant data is refreshed monthly. If you spot a factual error, write to hello@wibest.in — we'll correct it within 48 hours and note the correction at the bottom of the page.
Conflict of interest disclosure
WIB is independently owned by a single Indian builder. There are no investors, no parent company, and no commercial relationships that influence rankings. Affiliate revenue (Amazon, Flipkart, Zomato, etc.) is the only revenue stream and is disclosed on every page where applicable. Read the founder's full story →
